As every one will be aware during Covid 19 many people decided to remain at home.

East Renfrewshire Council also permitted many staff to remain and work at home.

In addition to this they arranged for Council and Committee meetings to be conducted by 'Teams'.

Where Cllrs could remain at home and be present on screens within the chamber and take part in the meetings.

As matters became better Elected Members began returning to the chamber, however the 'Teams' meetings were now described as 'Hybrid Meetings.

They were available for any member who was unable to attend the Council in person for a meeting that they had been required to attend.

As we are heading towards the end of the year, we decided to have a look at which Cllr was the most absent from a physical attendence in the chamber during 2023.

We were intending on running a table, however one Cllr stuck out from the rest.

This Cllrs home is believed to be situated the closest of all Cllrs homes to the council offices, and is approximately 3 min (1.1 mile) away.

Out of a possible 22 meetings this councillor appeared to join the meeting by video on 17 occasions, and one in person in the chamber. (Cllr David Macdonald)
