TWO probationer cops who took top honours in their initial training at the Scottish Police College have joined Barrhead police.

Constable Robert Maclean, 39, earned the Baton of Honour and 33-year-old PC Vic Young won the academic prize.

They clinched first places out of more than 100 trainees on the Tulliallan-based course.

Now the high-flying officers are stationed at Barrhead working with East Renfrewshire’s community policing team.

Chief Inspector Kenny Graham said: “We’re very proud of Robert and Vic. They’re a great asset.”
