East Renfrewshire’s top paid council positions

The TaxPayers’ Alliance has published its annual ‘Town Hall Rich List’ revealing the top paid council staff in the UK in 2017-18.

The list features those earning more than £100,000 per year – with East Renfrewshire having five appearing on the list, one less than in 2016-17.

According to the list, East Renfrewshire Council chief executive

Lorraine McMillan was the top paid council employee, receiving £114,597.

That’s actually around £2000 less than she received in 2016-17, according to the Alliance.

Next on the list is

Julie Murray, chief officer of East Renfrewshire Integration Board, who picked up £106,961.

Deputy chief executive Caroline Innes,

director of environment Andrew Cahill and

director of education Mhairi Shaw

each received £104,535.

Glasgow City Council had 11 employees earning over £100,000 in 2017-18, with the top earner being chief executive Annemarie O’Donnell on £172,618.

That’s £36,000 more than First Minister Nicola Sturgeon’s £135,605 salary.
