One measure of the ability to convey the residents views to Councillors and the Council is verbally at the monthly CC meetings that are held.

How many meetings do the Councillors actually attend.

Due to the alteration of the ward boundaries some Councillors have more that one CC in their wards.

Those Councillors who would be expected to attend will be listed against each CC and their attendance between March 2018 and March 2019 indicated.

Barrhead CC.

Cllr Aitken - One
Cllr Convery - Two

Cllr Devlin - None

So out of a potential ten meetings during a twelve month period some of the elected members do not appear to give their community councils much time.

Looking at a variety of CC minutes this is not something that CC's are very happy with.

When the council changed the scheme for CC's they replaced the full time liaison officer, with a part time member of staff.

At this point we had hoped to publish comments on the CC's by the council CC liaison officer Vincent McCulloch.

However he refused to comment.

Perhaps his refusal to comment may be indicative of the cooperation CC's receive from ERC.

Remember what the nice Mr McCulloch said to Neilston CC.

We are aware that there are many CC's that are operating very effectively and they have very dedicated members.

We are also aware of one CC that is in our opinion a waste of space.

We have looked at all CC's minutes, taken soundings from residents and evaluated each of the nine CC's performance.

There are undoubtedly many CC's that are being run exceptionally well and many Cclrs who are excelling in the voluntary role.

We are hopeful that all nine CC's will take the opportunity to respond to our invitation to highlight their exemplary work on behalf of their residents.
