Cllr David Macdonald, Independent who represents ward 4 (Netherlee / Stamperland / Williamwood / Clarkston / Busby) has moved his family home from Busby to the West end of Glasgow.

Nothing very newsworthy in that, however it is the reaction of the East Ren resident trolls that has been amazing.............

The regular group of approximately six has been on any and every facebook groupd that will permit them to spout their vitriol.

Apparently the Cllr (according to the trolls) can no longer represent residents of ER.

That is due, they claim, to his no longer paying council tax to ERC.

The two main ER trolls of this Cllr since he was elected have went into overdrive on this issue, we will spare our readers with all their comments, however we will have to highlight some.

Anyone can stand for election when an election is called, one criteria is that the person must reside or work in East Ren at the time of standing.

As long as they work in East Ren they can live anywhere in the world.

Once elected they can move home to anywhere in the world.

As for not paying council tax, he does pay that, to Glasgow City Council.

If he did not he would have consequences, like not being in a position to vote on budgets, which he is still fully entitled to do.

Pity the trolls could not concentrate on the three cllrs who were in arrears of council tax at the start of the council term two years ago, only one was was permitted to be identified.

A member of the group that these two main trolls belong to.

As 'Tam' says and he is perfectly correct, council employees are not in a position to be critical of an elected member.

'Tam' is perfectly entitled to have an opinion and express it.

However as a teacher employed by a neighbouring local authority we would suggest that a very good case could be made that a council employee of one council, who is barred from making comments about 'an elected member' is not only barred from doing so regarding Cllrs of the LA where they work, but any LA in Scotland.
