From that one email it is clear that the Board overturned the full councils employment contract with Anthony McReavy.

They decided that the council were not paying him enough and increased his salary without consultation with those that would have to actually foot the bill, and were allegedly having to look after the pennies and make forward predictions with regards to community charge increases, loans and borrowing and possible redundancy to make the books balance.

This occurred in September 2017 how could we have possibly missed such a monumental public announcement?

We then researched the available minutes and found this, as the only reference that we could find, and the time frame fits with the email from the chair of the board (Wilson) and the minutes also indicate that McReavy was present throughout that meeting.

13. AOCB Councillor Merrick requested a tour of the facilities of the Trust for the new members of the Board of Directors. This will be arranged. It was agreed that the Chief Executive role with East Ren Culture and Leisure Trust will be aligned with the Head of Service role within ERC

Tucked away in any other competent business (AOCB).

Therefore not on the agenda ?

Also slipped in immediately behind some other words?

Not headed up or titled to mention cash?

Only a few words - It was agreed that the Chief Executive role with East Ren Culture and Leisure Trust will be aligned with the Head of Service role within ERC

Why has it taken a year for this to become public knowledge, and it was only due to a sharp eyed Cllr reading a very lengthy audit report or it would never have been exposed.

Are these not matters of public interest, salary increases to Heads of Staff?

Was there a conspiracy to conceal the matter from the pubic, and elected members?

There are four Cllrs on the Board of directors who were present at the meeting and approved the increase.

Are they more powerful and have more authority than the other 14 elected members?

Not only has Mr McReavy been provided with a massive pay increase, he has also been handed a credit card with an unlimited amount of cash to spend (Letter of comfort) and ERC (taxpayers) will pay the bill.

Have ERCLT and the board members been involved in a conspiracy to conceal?

Three years after ERC prepared a contract in respect of Anthony McReavys employment, the ERCLT board discuss the contract.

Decide that ERC were incorrect in assessing his role and under valuing it, and increasing it to a level that they feel is commensurate to his role.

Is he not employed by ERC?

Do ERC not pay his salary?

Should ERCLT not present a business case to ERC for an increase to his salary?

Why was this increase apparently concealed?

Why have the four Cllrs appeared to remain silent on the matter, especially Cllr Grant, who is after all Deputy Chair of the Audit & Scrutiny committee?

Do these Cllrs have a conflict of interest?

Has Cllr Grants position on the A&S become untenable?

Should we not expect our elected members conduct to be of a very high standard, considering the position of power that they were voted into?

Should we also not expect openness and transparency, after all that is what the council chief executive and the press office always put out.

Mind you if they cannot be open with their peers, why would the public expect them to be open with us?

I personally think that this one issue has shown that you all possibly leave a lot to be desired. However if I have got it wrong, please correct me. This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it
