East Renfrewshire Neighbourhood Watch were nominated in four categories in this year’s awards from the Association of Scottish Neighbourhood Watches. (AoSNW)

We were eventual runners up in three out of the four and won the Communication Award which was down to our ability to get our message out, and in particular our community engagement via the innovative web site.

We also attracted positive comments from the Scottish Government for our approchable and responsive attitude via the web site to communication.

Also our Chair Tom Taylor has been voted the Eastwood Person of the Year 2009.

This award was made by the Eastwood Rotary Club and Tom was nominated by Chief Inspector Kenny Graham.

The award was made for Toms outstanding work for the community, initially starting with work in his local community of Stamperland by forming the Concerned Residents of Stamperland to assist in dealing with anti-social behaviour. His work as a Community Councillor, as Secretary of the local Community Council and his eventual setting up of ERNHW, its continued progression which is still attracting National awards.

In 2008 we were awarded the Best NHW Association in Scotland, the Best Newsletter, the Best Web Site and our chair Tom Taylor was voted the winner of the Scottish Community Spirit Award.
