New Screening Programme Launched

Bowel cancer is the third most common cancer in the UK and affects both men and women. As we get older the risk increases, with nine out of 10 cases in people over 50. However, when detected early it can be treated effectively.

More than 307,000 men and women between 50 - 74 are being invited to take part in Scotland's largest cancer screening programme. An easy to use screening kit will be sent to your home and a simple test can be carried out in private, to be
returned in a pre-paid envelope.

This new screening programme will look for bowel cancer at a stage before it causes any complaints or symptoms. For more information contact the

Bowel Screening Centre Helpline on

Parent Wanted

The CHCP is looking for a member of the public to join the Local Planning and Implementation Group for
Childrens Services.

The group was formed in response to the Health Visiting Review Report, which set out a framework for each CHCP to develop redesign proposals for the Health Visitor service, to suit local need.

The review recommends Health Visitors working with children aged 0 -19 and their families, based in integrated
children’s service teams within local offices.

The group meets monthly and is very keen to have public input, especially from someone who may have young children
or currently use the Health visiting service.
