Tom's background is in policing having joined the police in 1972 he served in a number of roles and at various locations throughout Strathclyde. After six years in uniform and two years with the Support Unit Tom joined the CID in 1982 and was based at Govan, he then became a member of the Scottish Crime Squad where he remained for four years and then transfered to the CID at Paisley until being promoted Detective Sergeant with the National Criminal Intelligence Service and was based in London. Tom retired in 2004 and located in East Renfrewshire. Due to anti social disorder problems in the locality, he subsequently became active in the community. In 2005 Tom became a Community Councillor and also created the ERNHW. Tom has since given up his role as a Community Councillor and is devoting his spare time to the development of NHW in the region. In 2007 Tom was presented with a Scottish national award for his 'community spirit' by the AoSNW. In 2009 he was awarded the Title Person of the Year by Eastwood Rotary. When not involved in NHW Tom runs his own private investigation company. |
